Those who know me know I LOVE Christmas and all the delicious food and drink that comes with it – and I am a firm believer we all need to relax and enjoy ourselves. But maybe it’s possible to let loose a bit, but not end up with a load of work to do in January to get back in shape.
But how do we get the balance right over the holidays? After all, realistically we’ve probably all had around 2 weeks already with a few parties and social gatherings, and we’ve got another 2 weeks ahead of us … so what do I recommend?
I actually (for a change!) I just have one simple message …
Don’t say yes just because “it’s Christmas” ! Be mindful with every decision you make. So many times in the past I have literally eaten to the point where I am just eating for the sake of it, because “it’s Christmas”, but I actually went past the point of enjoying what I was putting in my mouth! If you are the same, just be conscious of your decisions, and think to yourself whether you really want what’s on offer, or whether you are just saying yes because you feel you should / it’s polite or “because you can”. Also be aware of when you’ve indulged and try and balance things out the next day – maybe that’s eating lighter meals, or maybe it’s going for a long walk with friends or family.
That way you’ll have a Christmas enjoying the things you love, but not going too overboard that you end up looking like Santa in January!!
Enjoy this wonderful time of year, and wishing you a very healthy & happy 2018!! Sophie x
